Light House by ARKit. Melbourne, Australia

Constructed offsite from a series of low-impact materials, the Light House offers a prefab escape on Melbourne’s Aireys Inlet. The exterior is clothed in western red cedar and was transported to its sandy destination with minimal impact to the surrounding landscape. Designed to encourage family interactions, a plywood kitchen runs linear throughout the open living plan to fit the interior’s compact size and make space for a large dining table, while a bunkhouse with custom trundle beds sleeps six and connects to a hideout for the kids. A massive timber deck expands to the north and south, doubling the modest living space and creating an outdoor retreat to enjoy the coastal climate.
